Café Henrie – Upon walk in we immediately feel transported into a different era. On one hand it reminds us of the 50s, with retro diner furniture in pink and cerulean hues. On the other hand, it is a strikingly modern “administrative” space with peg boarded walls. What it’s known for: coffee and colorful light bites. What we loved: avocado toast and dragon bowl.

High Street on Hudson – has only been open for 2 months and we’ve already become repeat offenders. Why? Because it serves two purposes- cozy café and buzzling restaurant- with an unparalled menu in a lively location. What it’s known for: breakfast sandwiches and pastries. What we loved: The Hickory Town breakfast sandwich with Lancaster Bologna and the ham & cheese Danish (pictured here).

Vandal – We were hesitant about this one because of the surrounding hype and huge crowd similar to other clubstaurants from the same team behind Tao & Lavo. However, we couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised. Not only is the menu inventive and original with a seamless blend of international streetfood, there was a wide variety of stimulating street art to match. What it’s known for: Asian and European tapas. What we loved: heaven spot mini burgers, creamy patatas, skirt steak fried rice, and deconstructed s’mores dessert. Next time we plan to try the New York hot pretzel topped with steak tartare.

Quality Eats – This was another one we were surprised about given it is another extension part of the larger ‘Quality’ brand (Quality Meats, Quality Italian) but they still managed to make it refreshing. Just be prepared to indulge here because our favorites were the patty melt burger club, grilled bucheron cheese over a baguette, brown bag curly fries and birthday cake dessert with confetti cake and vanilla icing over chocolate malt ice cream. Also, be sure to try to ‘key money’ drink pictured here with Macerated Strawberry Gin, Mint, Lime, and Cucumber Cubes.

Mr. Purple – This  is one of those places you fall in love with because of the environment. Mr. Purple is located on the rooftop of Hotel Indigo in the L.E.S, just in time for spring weather. Upon walk in, you are greeted with a giant campbells soup can and “Life is Beautiful” sign, need we say more? Their menu consists of small but satisfying bar bites. What it’s known for: drinks and the poolside view. What we loved: elyx cup drink, tuna tartare, and chorizo croquettes. The french fries aren’t bad either.
