tuscany & cinque terre
Where to eat in Florence:
La Giostra: Classic menu, romantic vibes, good for a date or even dinner with parents
Vini e Vecchi Sapori: charming and tiny, serving traditional tuscan food. You definitely need to make a reservation
La Menagere: very instagrammable restaurant adorned with flowers and shabby chic decor, you can dine here or grab a quick coffee (which is what I did)
Osteria Il Gatto E la Volpe: casual spot for pizza and pasta, one of the few restaurants that still serves penne a la vodka, I will never forget their salmon pink walls!
Mercato Centrale Firenze: stopped here right when I got off the train, it's an indoor food hall with various vendors, had the most unbelievable bread and sandwiches
Pino's Salumeria Verdi: best paninis, recommended to me by so many people
What to see and do in Florence:
Piazzale Michelangelo: for the best view in Florence
Piazza del Duomo: the third largest cathedral in the world
Ponte Vecchio: this is the most ancient and photographed bridge in Florence
Gucci Garden: It's a combination of a restaurant, museum, and shop in the historic Palazzo della Mercanzia
Uffizi Galleries: known for housing one of the greatest collections of Italian Renaissance art
Westin hotel rooftop: perfect for apperitivo & sunset views
Day trip to Tuscan countryside via Walks of Italy: vineyard tour and tasting at Sant Appiano in Chianti, then walked around the medieval towns of San Gimignano and Siena. If I could go back I would have made this trip all about the vineyards
Day trip to Cinque Terre: I was limited on time so I only went to Manarola via train (there are four other towns), walked up the cliff to the most amazing restaurant called Nessum Dorma for wine and bruschetta. If you want to go to the other towns it is super easy, the trains come in quite frequently and only take 5-10 minutes
