WINGS. Because I may or may not only participate in football Sunday purely for the food. With the SuperBowl coming up in February,  Andrea (blogger behind A Slice o' Pi) and I decided to have people over to my apartment for just that.

We included the essentials: chicken wings and fries (original confession buffalo and sweat potato parmesan, ordered from my ultimate favorite International Wings Factory), homemade pigs in a blanket, trail mix (with puppychow), chips, and all kinds of dips (all groceries for this were ordered from MaxDelivery and delivered within an hour). However, we also tapped into WholeFoods to try out their new catering service, and ordered a cheese & charcuterie platter, baked brie, and stuffed jalapenos for pick-up at the Chelsea location near me.

Like I mentioned above, we used MaxDelivery again (before for the US Open Party) for all of the groceries we needed because we planned this last minute and they can always deliver within the next hour. Try it out yourself by using "LIGHTSPEED" coupon code at checkout, giving new customers 20% off the first order of $40 or more.

For décor, we ordered a football field inspired tablecloth, black and white striped cups and straws, and a football piñata, of course. All from Amazon.

The only stuff we really had to worry about making were the pigs in a blanket (recipe below), puppychow trail mix, and turning the mini brownies into footballs with frosting (which was actually really fun).

Pigs in a blanket ingredients:

  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls

  • 48 cocktail-size smoked link sausages or hot dogs (from two 14-oz packages)

Instructions:

  1. Heat oven to 375°F. Unroll both cans of the dough; separate into 16 triangles. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 narrow triangles.

  2. Place sausage on shortest side of each triangle. Roll up each, starting at shortest side and rolling to opposite point; place point side down on cookie sheet.

  3. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown, switching position of cookie sheets halfway through baking. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Serve warm.
